Our Story — From Italy & Brazil to Redondo Beach
Born in 2025 in the heart of Redondo Beach, Di Prima Pizza Speciale brings authentic Italian tradition with a bold Brazilian twist to Southern California. Inspired by the phrase “di prima qualità” — meaning “superior quality” — we’re proud to serve handcrafted pizzas made with organic flour, all-natural cheese, house-made tomato sauce, and our signature 48-hour fermented dough.
What started as a celebrated catering service is now a neighborhood favorite — a place you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy.

Meet the Chef
Chef Marcus Roberto was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where his love for pizza began—deeply rooted in Italian culinary traditions. After moving to the U.S. in 2005, he realized something was missing: truly great pizza. This inspired him to return to Brazil for formal training, and later to Italy, where he mastered authentic techniques.
In 2007, he launched Personal Pizza Chef, a gourmet catering business that earned him national and international acclaim. By 2019, Marcus had won titles like Best Brazilian Pizza Chef and Best Pizza Chef Outside of Italy at the World Championship, competing against 600 chefs.
In 2024, Marcus rebranded his business to Di Prima Pizza & Catering, and in 2025, he opened his first pizzeria in Redondo Beach. Today, Chef Marcus continues to blend Italian tradition with Brazilian flair, serving pizzas that tell a story of passion, travel, and dedication to quality.
